Do your homework, LS charges you for everything, even your settlement pay. If you get paid on Friday (and everyone is different) it's loaded onto a comdata card. Then you have to pay a fee to have it sent to your bank. It may be another two days before you get money in the bank. IMO Mercer is better that you get paid after every load.as far as the good ole boys club,
    LS has it too.

Yea ummm that's pretty much my opinion..I see Landstar flatbed guys with some very nice trucks as well so the money is there.. And yes everyone knows you pay for everything at Landstar so what... And you think there aren't any fees are Mercer? Lol trust me they are... Like I said I've worked for them I know what im talking about this isn't speculation.. Great company but a hard system to crack.. And if you dont learn it fast you'll go broke really fast..

You can alleviate that by getting a Conestoga. A rolling tarp system.

There's an easy way not to have to deal with it then, don't book a relay.

And good luck ever proving that another driver dropped an out of service trailer. Obviously it's likely that's the case but you can't prove it.

What can be proved though is Schneider knowingly hires morons and puts them behind the wheel. Since that's the case why blame the moron? If a company is willing to hire a moron do you really expect the moron to say no?

To put things into perspective a bit at what I'm trying to say, one time I delivered to Memphis TN once, then was assigned to pick up a relay in Memphis going to west Memphis OC. Actual miles from prior load to shipper, 10 miles. Schneider miles, 0.0. Actual miles from shipper to west Memphis oc, 30. Schneider miles, 2.

After wasting 3-4 hours of my day picking up that load and dropping it at the OC I got my settlement and that load payed me a whopping 72 cents. Of course I complained and they gave me $25 on top of that but still how do they try getting off paying you that and how many moron drivers don't catch that? I put up with that garbage, but most people wouldn't. Maybe I'm the moron for doing the right thing and tolerating it?

And for anyone to suggest I'm the "new breed of trucker" get real. I spent more time sitting in express getting trailers fixed than a majority of people on here. Which is funny because on one trailer in particular I had to have 6 tires replaced but maintenance refused to replace 3 of them. Which brings us to the fact that depending on which mechanic you get, Schneider policy basically is don't change a tire until it's practically bald or steel cords are showing. Some guys will just change it without even asking. Others will argue with you.

As this is my second time with SNI (the first time I was a company shlub), I can second most of this post. I will state...categorically and emphatically...that I am having very, very few issues with trailers compared to my 4 years as a company driver. I did have a stretch last year that prompted me to fire off an email to my ICA, the terminal manager, and the head of van truckload, but other than that it's been a vast improvement.

However, as far as some of the drivers SNI is hiring to train...uh, pardon me...."train": it's a joke. When I took my annual check ride, the TE who road tested me even expressed frustration over it. I've had to explain the theory and practice of tandem adjustment to several newbies out here, and have seen many others that in years past would not have been given a look by this organization. But times have changed, and this driver can not wait unti he hands in the keys for good.

@stevep1977 .....to sit there and just use that excuse is pathetic...by enabling these idiots to do what they keep doing you're just as much the problem as them...while the company may or may not do anything just sitting by do nothing is just as bad...
