We have drivers that will complain about 10-12 stops on a truck, let alone ten times that.Bob Dobalina, skinnytrucker and Sho Nuff Thank this. -
I was one of them. When I did straight truck resi, it's was only around 10-12 stops. I think if I did ten times that amount, I would of probably needed a muffle to shut my mouth. But then again, dealing with freight is completely different than dealing with packages. -
Ya but, prior to local box truck job, you had something worse before, and this was an upgrade...so the brain didnt know 90 stops wasnt normal
He'll get the CDL ltl rollin and look back and think "i cant believe i did that for so long"...then he'll go linehaul at night, never touch a package, actually have a problem if asked to move 1 package 4 feet...LOL
Its a process -
That kept me from working for them. Can't believe they threw the new guys under the bus like that. They are trying to do something similar where I work now with the 401K, frustrating indeedPintlehook Thanks this. -
Ya so, all your 401k's need to be adjusted..do it yourself online, or callem...you want the lowest risk, lowest gain adjustment, and still keep an eye on it...studying it over 10 year says were gonna hit big ups in the next 3 to 7 year, but not now,,obv...If you give half a monkeys crap about your money, you'll look up the graph regularly and get a pulse on its movements...you'll know when to turn your risk buttons back up, and by then, you;ll know exaclty what fund your gonna put the money on...study the 2 year, 5 year, 10 year, and lifetime graphs do you own adjustments, make a mirron dorras....find 12to15% funds...you be all good...start with like 'vanguard' or someone...good stocks within the funds there...

Jumping in late here, folks, I don't know if I'm offering any new insights here or not.
As far as how much Express P&D drivers make, I'm assuming it's the way it was at Freight when I worked there; it depended on regional economic numbers and average pay for similar companies. The Express guys made basically the same as us in the Tacoma area.
As for the amount of stops they do, yeah, it's mind boggling. I used to run into the same Express driver every day at several stops. I remember one morning we were both delivering to the local mall, we saw each other and just smirked and shook our heads, because we'd both been told yet again about more policy changes coming down (pretty much a weekly thing at FedEx). He motioned me over, opened his back door, and said, "See this? I still have about 100 "10:30 guaranteed" deliveries in here. It's not gonna happen..." He was right, because it was already 10:20 am.
And yes, Express does have their own training program. They sent (I think they still do) their trainer over to the FedEx Freight yard with a truck and student to practice. The Tacoma FedEx Freight yard is on 26 acres, so there's plenty of room for them to practice without getting in the way too much.
