I did go to that place near the downtown warehouse district of Cleveland where they charge $20 at the gate once. It was ghetto for sure! I also was re-consigned all the way into Philly once and that place had a gate fee too. My company always reimbursed me though.

Most the big markets have a gate fee. At least they did when i was running produce.

Fatty Rossiter: It was already loaded. Jesus, Clyde, you have three pistols and you only have one arm for Christ's sake.
Clyde: Well I just don't want to be killed for lack of shootin' back.

I had a load of ice cream (bluebell) rejected by Kroger once. The pallets weren't labeled right (listed as pints instead of gallons, but the order was right.) I had to drive back to the creamery, get unloaded, relabled, reloaded. It took 26 hours if I count the first loading time in the math. I worked at Werner in the dry van fleet, did this load as a favor to my dispatcher. Very frustrating

This is what I have learned about " Can you do me a favor?" in the rucking business. Not only no, but F NO. Cash up front.

Yeah... I don't know how many times I've driven all the way back to the shipper because six boxes had little marks on them. Such a waste of everybody's time.

You just need to be an ####### to the broker. HEB refused a pallet of paper towels once because they were mislabeled as Walgreens. Put back on my trailer. The broker docked around for two hours until my boss gave them an ultimatum, 30 minutes or they were coming back to El Paso and we'd sell them at the swap. Half hour later I was back at HEB and they unloaded them to wait for an LTL pickup to return to Kingman, AZ

HEB is probably the worst receiver. They hold the gold medal for F / U. Was there like 10 hours once with a Stouffers load. Missed my reload so stayed in San Antonio all weekend. Only got like $60 detention from the company.
