Im here...only just. I got my ### thoroughly kicked getting in here. I missed the exit getting off the 278 so had to fall back on the gps which took me on Whitestone bridge and cross bronx before dumping my on city streets inhabited by insane Hasidic school bus drivers. I got past those crazies then had to make a left that wouldn't have happened if a couple cars hadnt backed up 20ft.
Finally get to bh and have no clue what I am doing. Bullpen was full so tried to put trailer in empty dock just to get it out of the way. Got told off for trying that then was told to go to morgan street.
With all the double parked cars and one ways I had to go 6 blocks just to find a street I could turn on and even then squeezed past cars with probably only an inch to spare.
I am nosed in (per security) at the morgan street parking lot with no idea how I am going to get back out.
Can only cross my fingers that a spot in bullpen opens up as i have less than 10 mins left on my 14hr as i came straight here from groveport.
If I wasn't too tired to think straight I don't think I would have made it as no sensible person would have attempted some of those turns.

On a more positive note I smashed my mileage goal for this pay period.
6832 miles and it honestly does not feel like I covered that kind of distance or worked hard for the pay I received for doing it.
Mind boggling.
BTW I had three loads between 8-900 miles. All the others were between 3-500. That 14 hr detention load was on this pay so that wasted time could have easily covered another 6-700 miles not incl the few hrs here and there between empty macro and getting next load.Last edited: Jun 23, 2016
WotansVolkman, MidWest_MacDaddy and Finfn1372 Thank this. -
Well, got into and out of NYC without a scratch.
Unloaded me and reloaded me with a load going to Groveport... So I guess that was a good turn around... With barely enough time on my clocks to get out of town too.
It was just a bit unnerving to go under a low section of bridge with my RM GPS "warning" me right and left about doing so.WotansVolkman Thanks this. -
Much less trafficWotansVolkman Thanks this. -
I parked on Thames, twice, and actually nailed the back without too many pull ups too.
NYC was good to me, this time.
NJ is a whole different story.
So I guess it balanced out.
With only 7 left on my 10, Good Night!!!WotansVolkman and Redtwin Thank this. -
The trip isn't over yet!!. I need to take a 10 here and my brain is too frazzled to fall asleep.

Hi folks,
I have to ask, I see you all getting these runs to BH in NYC (and just loving it ... NOT) .... is that forced dispatch?
I've made runs to LI but that's hardly driving the city streets. If I go OTR with these folks am I likely to get forced into those BH loads?
Being completely honest, with only 2 years under my belt, 4 years ago and mostly running out west, I wouldn't be too comfortable with that right out of the gate (if at all).
I'll ask Rusty but I'd appreciate your thoughts as well. Thanks. -
company drivers are on a forced dispatch system; however, 90% of the time an OTR driver does not go into NYC or the NE, unless there are more loads than the regular NE drivers can handle.
In the little over 3 years I've been here, I've been 3 times. You just have to put your big person britches on and do it. First time I went I had only been driving for a year. And I had an 11 am appointment. Last two were at night. Still crazy. I've told them they can keep the $50 for going into NYC. Not worth it. But should I get a load that requires me to go there, I will go there and deal with it.
