Hey, guys. I'm looking to plant my roots in Valparaiso, IN while my better half goes through college there. What I'm looking for is suggestions from local drivers near that area on companies and a ballpark estimate of what a local driver can expect as far as an hourly rate. I've got 5 clean years, 3 1/2 years of reefer experience and 1 1/2 years of flatbed/oversize experience. I've got my tanker, hazmat, and double/triple endorsements, but zero experience hauling any of the three. Any help is very apprectiated. Thanks.
Looking for suggestions

Indeed and Craiglist are your friend... start searching out LTL near the location, p&d is decent money and always in demand. Same as foodservice...

@PhoenixOneNine - @Bob Dobalina is with Dayton Freight, he's a straight shooter and I'm sure would answer any questions you may have about the company. Dayton seems like a good outfit to me, although I've never worked there.
As someone else mentioned, foodservice is always in demand. Those jobs are physically demanding, but you can make BANK. Check out Sysco, US Foods, or Reinhart - I'm not familiar with Valparaiso, but I'm betting one of these companies has a terminal nearby.
Good luck!Last edited by a moderator: Jul 6, 2016
