My Journey with Melton so far...

Congrats on getting out of the "working for other people" mode. I am a few months away from that world myself. I"m going to be getting into reselling online. Melton will definitely be the last job I ever work for someone else. I have scored top driver for a few quarters and have received the T-shirts, Melton gift certificates, the congratulatory QualComm message and so on. Never cared about it much. Just want the miles to make money. How much were you making per mile? Also, how much time as well as hong long would you spend on home time?

Thank you for clarifying because based on the amount of home time, the average miles, and the mileage pay it was definitely not adding up. Again congrats on your moving on.

According to Melton (of course), their average driver makes 55K a year.

 

I am in Laredo and yesterday they sent me to Del Rio which is three hours north of here to pick up a load. I get there and there is another Melton driver there as well. I go to check in and they look puzzled when I tell them that I am there to pickup. At that point they began to tell me that there is only on truckload going out for Melton not two. So after 30 minutes of trying to call Laredo and my Driver Manager because no one was answering the phone, I finally get through and the Laredo dispatch as well as my DM insists that there are two loads and want me to wait like the other driver for the load to cross the border. I relay this info to the shipper and he insists that No, there is absolutely NOT two loads. He even went as far as calling the Mexican shipper of the load right in front of me to verify and the confirm that there is only ONE load. I send my DM a QualComm message stating that this has been verified twice and that this pickup looks like an error. She responds with a message stating that they are working on figuring it. Minutes later she sends me a message stating that yes I was right, it was an error load, and has me deadhead right back down to Laredo where I am currently sitting. A total waste of time for a whopping 360 miles of deadhead pay for the day. I really wish I could quit now but I need to stick it out 'till December so that I can save $15,000 (hopefully) and have all my bills paid before I quit this Joke fest of a job. Beware of Melton. The turnover rate is very high here for a reason folks. Your choice.

 

I worked for melton for 13 months. There orientation program is not bad. The first 3 months werr awesome but after that i was doing no miles a lot of detention and delay time.. 4 hrs at shipper 4 hrs at cosigne then 4 more hrs to get a new load. Plus i never had a load over 1000 miles doing tarping 3 times a week. i wanted to stay out 3 weeks or one month but they never got me home on time so iwas out 6 and 7 weeks i missed alot of important dates that i shouldnt missed. I understand this trucking but still i used to tell them a few weeks before i wanted to go home.. if youre one of this drivers staying out for months.. then this is the right company for you..
