Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

LOL .. you have no idea how much I wish I were being paid by the mile here. Well over 14k since last Wednesday? Yeah, I wish ... lol

 

When I went through training at Abilene I was paid 20 cpm for all miles for the truck. JohnBoy made them change the trainee pay since then.

 

We all have our good and bad days when it comes to backing. Even JB. And he'll be the first to tell you that sometimes you can't get the broad side of a bran and others it's smooth as butter. I guess I was a little lucky in school. By the 2nd week, I was the only one left in my class so I got a lot of practice. I can blind side parallel with the best of them and still can't do it in a car. Go figure. It's like JB said, doesn't matter how long it takes you to do it, how many pull ups. As long as you get it done and don't damage anything, you're golden. And btw, the KWs, blind spots out the friggin wazoo. Maybe you need to ask for a Volvo? Less blind spots and a bit more manueverability (sp?). At least until you're more comfortable with it all. Not sure if they could or would do that, but it's worth a try.

 

Chralb, glad to see youre doing well and enjoying youre job!! You are very fortunate and blessed to have a trainer that actually takes times his job seriously and does it with passion. This industry needs more qualified trainers that are genuinely interested in helping others do this job safely!! Remember, that you never stop learning things out here, no matter how long you've been out here. I've driven over a million accident free miles and learn something every day! @JohnBoy ,@Redtwin ,thanks for the replys on the truck parking.Ended up here at the 595,just because its closer to where i'm going.Have a delivery at publix in the morning than off to who knows where.
Anybody have any insight on what we usually pu in fl?

 

I've only made one trip to Florida, but I got a Pepsi run out of Jacksonville that was a broker run. They gave me 9 hours to make a 12 hour run. LOL

 

Thanks I'm deliverying in Miami,you know to one of the "publix" you shake your head at when looking at it lol.

 

I've only delivered to Orlando to a Publix there.

 

Only bad thing is don't deliver till noon tomorrow,will have to force myself to stay up late.Didnt think id ever make it,that was the longest 500 miles of my life today.
