Safety yes, holiday no, rolled into PTO days. Although some claim they are working to adjust that. Many complaints, nothing official yet.
I don't have my paperwork in front of me to give breakdown for number of hours required to earn a day.
We were told this year that Thanksgiving is just another work day. Does that tell you anything?

For a new guy, 125 hours needed to earn 1 PTO, with a maximum of 21 earned for the year.

For year 2, it is 112 hours for 1, with a maximum of 23.

3-5 years it is 100 hours for 1, maximum of 26.

    So on.

So If I work a holiday I get nothing in return? Just regular pay?

That's the way it stands now. As I said, I hear it's being reviewed.

It's kind of funny, but no matter how many times folks read that in these threads, it never really hits home until you start. Yes, the vast majority of people are very nice and very helpful. The respect that is given, is unlike anything that people experience in this profession. Those who are grumpy and complain constantly have forgotten where they came from.

Is it perfect................. of course not. After all, you still have to drive with the 4-wheelers around. :)
