Operations says one thing and Accounting says another... Is anyone surprised??? LOL :)

But it's good for incentive to keep newbies on the truck throughout the training process. ;-)

I do have to disagree. Some of us, as in me, find going home for hometime on a regular basis far more important then staying out weeks/months at a time to keep a newbie on my truck. After all the newbies I've spent time with, that have left, quit, flaked out, crashed and decided being away from their binky and bottle, was more important than my time training them, my life at home is far more important then their new career choice. After 13 of 15 trainees that wasted their time and mine, me staying out for weeks at a time is not going to happen in my life.

Made it to my delivery in Kinston, NC an hour and a half early. Bumped the dock waiting on unload.

JB, is that a real number (13 outta 15 ) that have trained and are now gone?

If so, that seems like a crazy high ratio

It is, and when I spoke to safety about it and my concerns, I was told that was normal. After that I readjusted my life, it now revolves around my hometime.

I know there are always seats to fill with turnover and fleet expansion but really from a cost perspective those 2 drivers that were retained cost a bundle

Gonna guess of the 15 trainees (probably a 2+ yr period) U ended up with 1 keeper per year, really got to question the value to the company

Just a guess on my part but from a business perspective, I'm sure it factored into the decision to pay trainees by the day instead of the mile. While it may still cost more than it's worth in the end, at least the investiment is controlled in a fixed way now.
