8th amendment
"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

Sometimes I wish we can disregard this amendment and punish these drivers. We have a serious responsibility on the road so we should have a higher standard in punishment.
Something like this, death penalty. Even excessive speeding should be punish by losing your cdl.

I don't see how we can draw any conclusions to guilt or innocence based on that very non-specific article. About 2 months ago I was travelling on I-45 in the middle of the night. The car in front of me was at least 8 seconds ahead of me and just slammed on the brakes. No reason, just decided to stop. I avoided him of course but if I would have hit him I suppose I would already be tried and convicted by some.

Point is, we don't know what happened.

 

Now then, define just what is "excessive bail!"There are judges that think O. R. is perfect for violent domestic violence offenders, and others that think a quarter of a million perfect for Fish and Game violators.

Ive avoided many cars who slammed to a halt in front of me sometimes by this much. I plan for it. I don't intend to be shipped to Rikers or Sing Sing for taking out that VW Rabbit with 4 half breeds inside of it on that Cross Bronx in the rain last time someone tried. All hail ABS. It worked perfect.

Im off the road but ... here at home I have to be very careful who I allow to pick a fight with me because even though I carry USCCA insurance against any selfdefense, bond etc that does not mean Arkansas will not cart me to excessive bail.

Yes, they probably will end-up in bankruptcy only to give it another go 6 months down the line as a "new company". Rest assured they'll be hiring more irresponsible fools like the guy that killed this family and thus the cycle will continue.

 

Really? Based on what evidence? How do you even know the trucker is at fault? The article says there was a crash and the police arrested the driver.

 

Read the link below devil dog. I know, ya ya ya we have a legal process etc; Sounds like the guy rear-ended them in a construction zone. Possibly excessive speed? Not paying attention? Whatever it was it was a failure of responsibility on this s-head's part.
