I don't know what the cost of living is in NJ, I'm sure it's pretty high, but down here in Alabama that's #### good wages.

I am making 800-1200 hauling people to & from casino on an employee shuttle... an in same boat as you I want to be on road......But that P endorsment is paying pretty good....But I realize boxes can not call CUST SERV to ##### about that stop,turn or my choice of music......God there goes a KW t-2000 by How i want to drive that instead of a bus....

You're going to take a big pay cut - are you sure you can deal with that? $1,300 is good money. You aren't going to start out anywhere near that figure as a new truck driver.

MGASSEL pretty much said it - it's not the cake and gravy it was when I started driving trucks and you could run as many miles as you wanted. You probably need to take a serious look at your current finances and see if you can afford such a huge cut in pay. Driving semi's is cool, no doubt, but if it were me, I wouldn't even consider it.

Swift is offering me a job but they want me to go through 3 days orientationand then 6 weeks training(with no gaurantee of coming home during this time)at $450 a week,my own truck after that at 36cpm regional/26cpm otr. He's sayin regional gets like 6000-9000 miles a month and otr gets 10000-12000 a month either way it ain't a whole lot of money.I don't know if was unemployed it wouldn't be too bad but right now it would be a big step down,but I need to get a year of driving in to get in with a tanker company or a ltl company.I don't know??????
