And don't forget if there is a mechanical failure that is proven to have caused this, your carrier has at least $1,000,000 in insurance. That money could be yours to help you over the pains that are even now pulsing through your body. Get to a lawyer and he can help heal your pain.

At the very least go have a urine sample tested. Even if you have to pay for it. Cya. My opinion it was reported to the state patrol.
I had an accident a few years back. Truck and trailer blown over by the wind. State patrol. Dot and locals all showed up for the party. Full accident report, filed. No moving violations issued. Never showed up on my mvr or any of the fmcsa reports.
If it is mechanical failure, no reason for you to be fired.
    Good luck.

Who said it was mechanical failure? Is that in writing? Do you have a copy? I would be getting a copy.

    Toomanybikes and MJ1657 Thank this.

Ya what. Rank said. Get a copy of all reports associated with this incident. Just for that day you quit, get laid off or get fired. Your boss could be a real nice guy while your making him money.
If you are a dependable employee he might not be happy when you leave.
    Tomorrow is never certain.
    Good luck.

Oh, gees...not another sensitive driver lashing out at those who try to help him that don't say what he wants to hear!
Thought that mechanical failure has to be certified by state inspection. Otherwise everyone would say something broke...

That has nothing to do with whether an accident is DOT reportable. What is and isn't is spelled out in the law, not in who shows up to the accident scene.
Incorrect. Drug and alcohol testing must be done if someone is killed, or if a vehicle is towed or someone is injured and the driver is cited for the accident. OP says he was not issued a citation.
I'm wondering this as well. I'm still wondering what exactly broke if an axle really came loose. There's a lot of stuff that could go wrong back there that you should be able to see weeks or months before a catastrophic failure occurs. There are also things that you would not see no matter how well you performed an inspection.

    OP, what exactly broke?

Driver you need something in writing to cover your career, you're boss should understand why you need this in writing, let him know this doesn't mean you are seeking a lawsuit or anything like that
    Just covering your behind
If he doesn't understand that then you might need a lawyer to send him a letter demanding a vehicle report, dot can make him give you that report also if you have to go that route with him
... Don't let this get you down but you need to act fast on this issue to cover yourself
You have alot in your corner because axels are not suppose to come off the equipment at anytime!
I think you're boss is smart enough to know this can get ugly for him as well if he doesn't cooperate with a reasonable Christian like you
... I have a feeling Everything will work out for you
