i've turned down good paying gigs, due to the company having cabovers. in fact, when i'd set up the appointments for the job interview, i'd drive on by a day or 2 before and see what they had for trucks. if i saw a fleet of cabovers, even ONE stinking cabover, i'd keep on driving by and never show up for the interview.
i had always figured, the "new guy" gets the bone shaker

my '91 FLA rides about as soft as out 379 petes did,and they rode nicely. the cabs do not tip unexpectedly un less you leave them unlocked. they are as stable as anything else, the frames and running gear is the same as a conventional.
on the fuel mileage, anyone notice that nicola conventional? coe's break the wind once. i get 7.5-ish pulling heavy.
yeah, the right side is a little shrouded. the shifter sucks. but the engines run cool,no firewall stopping airflow, the heat blows right thru.
i drove a restored 1981 pete 359,that was no better as far as ride, convenience ans visibility. but like my coe it was cool. i get more comments with the ratty coe.
it really comes down to what you want. everyone is forgiving of something if they like it. like cummins fans. or hillary supporters. both make me shudder....Mattflat362, stayinback, 201 and 4 others Thank this. -
I'm not bashing cabovers and put on my first million in them and love looking at old cab overs .
My k100 had a cab mate on it and rode well .x1Heavy Thanks this. -
mine has a cabmate too,i was just looking at the trashed hinge arms, and missing hinge pin. no wonder its been so bouncy lately.

Seems the window defroster didn't work well in the old freight shaker I drove years ago. It also rode rough to the point my head bounced off the ceiling a couple times.
201 Thanks this. -
had a cab over for awhile because it met the legal length limit on some ca roadways.

If I was running regional or local I'd have a cab over in a heartbeat .
And never once in the past did my cab flop forward on me as previously stated ...and could see much closer than 50 ft .Rusty Trawler and x1Heavy Thank this. -
I wonder how well the European cabovers ride compared to the old American iron?
