Ahh the happiness of the first couple of weeks at a new job... It's fascinating how things change with time.

    Good luck dog

I appreciate it. Quite honestly, as long as I can get 40 hrs a week at this current hourly rate, it still beats my over 60 hr average at the previous job for the same pay.
I know any new job or any driving job for that matter, will come with its ups and downs. That is fine, nothing is going to be as bad as burning your own crap in Iraq during 130 degree summers...... lol! So, I can handle whatever crap they throw at me, pun intended!!

That is one of the many reasons I got into LTL. I made more money (even at the bottom of the payscale) working 20 fewer hours per week than I did at my last job. I also had a predictable start time, whereas it was all over the place at my last job.

Mike2633 and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this.

Exactly! Even running local automotive freight I had a unusual schedule as it was on a 1-2 month bid system and since automotive runs 24/7, my start times were all over the place. I start now anywhere from 7-830 am until done and it is a dream so far. We do have one customer that only receives at night from 2200 until 0200 so any volunteers that take it are put on a modified schedule to get back to day shift over the next day or two.

So far today I had the experience of sort and seg at a PFG. 15 skids to break down. I will say that I got a nice workout in! I am happy after day one and as long as it stays like this, I will be very happy with my choice to come over to LTL!

What are your start times? Do they have an extra board? Or is it just same start time every day? Weekends off?

There is no board, just run what they need ran. After some time you can "settle" into a normal "zone" but it's not definite. Start time for our lexington terminal is between 7 and 830 am and run until complete.

They'll pay lumpers if it's something extreme. It was 15 skids, a lot if just breaking down to stackable heights. If it was too involved we can call in and get it approved by TM

Just another day of the ltl life. Got to take the box truck for a spin. Still turned out 19 deliveries and sixbox pickups with 3 trips. Not too shabby for a 10 hrs day.
Had the opportunity to deal with some OS&D today as well. Had 1 missing skid on a 2 skid delivery and some damaged freight that the customer still wanted.
All in all a nice productive day and 10 hrs on the clock!

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
