Running empty does cost fuel and wear. But much less than running with 40k on.

And ya, 80 cpm doesn't cover fuel and wages. And that's just with 1 driver, with two it not only doesn't cover them it missed by a large margin. Fuel is about 26.5 cpm right now. If the day comes that I'm only gonna make 53.5 cpm I'm parking this truck and getting a real job.

According to some on this thread that's a bad business model and that account would be more profitable if u had your trucks deadhead back to Atlanta INSTEAD of taking .80 back

Hauling cheap freight is hauling cheap team or not.
I wouldn't touch on the team board either for the same reasons I don't now.

I'm on the team board and I don't understand. I won't haul it. Period. I had the choice this weekend to go to Boston for $1.74. Only thing out was 42k @ .80 to Indy. Not happening. It was around $700, $3-350 for fuel to haul that weight across pa and it was an expedited load that had to be there over night, all for MAYBE $400 at best? Lmao Nope.

You posted you grossed $10400? That's awesome, but I don't know how you did it because I know some of the loads you hauled and I don't know how you got there.

And whipper please don't take this as an attack, just stating my opinion about cheap freight and saying maybe you're embellishing a little bit.

My best was $8500 and that was before the recent rate drop. In the last 30-45 days the rates have plummeted and almost every city is full of $1 freight. Yes there are some loads that pay and take you into dead areas like the Boston load i jus mentioned, I don't normally run New England but all Cali loads are down to .98-$1.13 so I was looking to do something different and I'm going to Michigan instead.

But really this board sucks and I've been thinking of going to the solo board for a while.

Are we really that bad at math?

    Deadhead 500 miles for $0
Say you got 10 mpg.. you're still gonna spent $100+ in fuel.
Just drove 500 miles for no revenue and spent $100 in fuel, you're in the hole $100.

    Vs 500 miles for .80
    That's $400
Say you get 6mpg so $190 in fuel.

    So thats -$100 or $210

If you still think -$100 is better I give up.

Fwiw its worth , you are assuminng 40k in the box. Hauled plenty that was 15-20K out of NE as backhaul to get me back to dedicated account lanes. Saw just as many IC. Trucks in those locations as company trucks.

So perhaps you might have a different opinion given certain key facts. Dont you pull flat anyway?

@freightwipper , just do you man. You may be ####y and all that , but you are getting it done.. Dont take the bait ferom these ####ers.
