Anyone know what the High pressure line should cost that goes on the compressor on a 12.7 series 60?
Also, does the dryer need to be replaced, when a compressor fails and is replaced, as preventive maintenance?
The Petro here has my head spinning. I had the compressor and clutch replaced yesterday in MD. Got up this morning and no A/C. Got to a Petro, and they are telling me somehow now I have a pinhole in that line. They also claim I should have been advised to replace the dryer.
Going to FleetPride in the morning.

As a rule when ever the a/c system is opened up or has no Freon it it the dryer/ accumulator should be replaced. The dryer/ accumulator has a moisture absorbing desicant in it if the system is open it will absorb moisture from the air and therefore will be to full to remove the moisture from a charged system.
The next concern is how the compressor failed if it was a catastrophic failure it could have sent metal flakes through the system. If this happens the whole system would have to be flushed.
If the system is a o-tube style a new 0-tube should be installed aswell.truckerman75103 Thanks this. -
Is the O tube the other line going to the compressor? -
First off, a/c is one of the most under-repaired systems on a truck. Freightliner doesn't utilize an orifice tube but rather an expansion valve. I'm assuming this truck is no spring chicken with a S60 engine so it's quite likely in need of some tlc. The drier should be replaced each time the system is opened for best results as bowtie77 stated. I'm assuming their was no compressor shrapnel in the system as it sounds like the compressor clutch failed, so you got lucky there. If one line has failed, replace them all if you can because otherwise you'll be putting one on at a time and paying for labor to evacuate and charge the system each time and buying a drier each time along with downtime.

If you've got the time find a local guy who can make lines for you. It'll save you tons in the long run and it'll be done right. Freightliner, like all other dealers think their parts are made of gold and charge for such.
If they recovered almost all freon at the last petro I can guarantee they pinched the line putting back on or rubbed it on something. I'd make a case that they ruined the line especially if it wasn't leaking prior to their working on it. -
The line showed no signs of pinching or being punctured for the outside. I think it just failed.whoopNride Thanks this.
