I have about six months experience driving. About four months ago, I became seriously ill on the road and had to take some time off. I'm headed back on the road soon and the company I'll be driving for doesn't think I need any kind of retraining. I never had any issues with safety before, so I would like to hear from people that have gone back after not driving.
Is it really like riding a bike?

I stayed out of trucks for three years and then climbed back in like I was just out for the weekend.... But had been driving since '03 so there was ten years of experience. You may need a refresher since you hadn't been doing it very long.
LuDiesel Thanks this. -
6 months is kinda right on the border buddy. Do u still remember kingpin law, bridge law. Do you remember how to do a pretrip? Adjust you're brakes? Remember the weight limits?
Go find a study guide, read it and u should be fineLuDiesel Thanks this. -
If you were good at it when you left, you'll be good when you return. If you sucked when you left, you'll suck when you start back
RedRover, SidewaysBentHalo and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this. -
You should be fine after 15 min.

I was off work for a year for a motorcycle accident I was in, i just went back to work 4 weeks ago. For me I would say ya, it's pretty much like riding a bike. I didn't have any difficulty. I think you'll be fine. Take it slow and easy the first couple days you should be fine.
