Tell us about yours, if you've had any.

Two days ago I was sent one at a Walmart. I knew right away how this was going to go, just like anyplace else that's not a regular shipper. "Who's it for?" "Do you know what you're getting"? "What's a 'bill of lading"?

Anyhow, I did have one clue, which was a note that it was hazmat. That led the store manager to conclude that it was either leftover flooring ashesive that Con-Way delivered, or leftover refrigerant tanks that Ward Trucking delivered. The weight and piece count made me lean toward the tanks.

Called the office and said "what's going on here? Nobody knows anything about this. Nobody has a BOL, and if it's for these refrigerant takes sitting out back I absolutely refuse to take these. The pallets are stacked, the banding on 3 out of the 4 has been cut, and they have no labels. Ward delivered them, let them come back and get this mess". :biggrin_25516:

Yeah, ok. And risk an unpleasant encounter with one of your MD counterparts?

    No, thank you.

This wasn't refused, but it was humorous. I picked up at a place and the guy said. Im waiting on the guy to send me the bowls. I'm like huh? He said. You know the bowls, the bill of lading.

First time I ever heard it called that. Then he got them printed out and there wasn't anything filled out. Piece count. Skid count. Description. Class. Nothing. And with me being new to LTL, I had to call in and figure out how to get the class and what not. Of course from the guy I got the response, "well usually the other guy who picks it up just signs it and goes."

One time I was picking up a load of sauces for one of our chain customers and the shipping man thought he miscounted, but he didn't and then they made a big hubub about it and people from this sauce manufacturers office had to come down from there office and go in the freezer and recount all the sauces on the pallet. Turns out everything was fine, but you know they didn't want to short us.

A lot of the usps loads suck. I do not recommend them. I picked up from rr donnely in dansville ky. It had three stops in Atlanta. On the bills two of the three stops had incorrect street addresses and zip codes. I wound up sitting at my second stop for five hours waiting for 3 pallets to get pulled off. Also the second stop was a real tight squeeze to get in and out of.

I've refused a lot of small shipments that were either dirty, (car engines and/or transmissions for junk yards for an example, some not even having the oil drained completely out,) or were not packaged properly to avoid damage to either this freight, or other freight.
