I hear what you are saying. Believe me, I do. Let me give you some perspective first before you tell me that I am not cut out for this business though: My MVR is clean. CDL Class B. 14 years in coach buses all over New England. I know, I know "...but you have no idea how to drive a truck out here OTR..." yada, yada. I would like to try and wipe the sludge off of my boots and get that Class A. Negativity will not work in my case. Positivity will. And the trainers at the driving school where I tried were poking fun about possibly taking a different approach, i.e., the kid gloves approach. God forbid. But my safety record speaks for itself. So, I guess I "managed" it just fine for that long? No, I am a #### good driver Sir. Long story short, up until last year when my former employer decided that they had enough of my "suggestions" in order to help my passengers stranded on the side of the road, they terminated me. So, besides not being overly confident right now, I, like others, struggle with anxiety too.
But, with that said, if you wanna point out the full time Amtrak or MBTA position to become a train operator, rather than a truck driver - go right ahead. I am still going to try and better myself.

Being a commercial bus all over NE is all I need to know you can handle a large vehicle with 50 backseatdrivers giving you a hard time. That's really enough for me, you whistle up a class A, kick back and have a go.
I prefer to see people scared but making choices and functioning while scared. That is good.
Im no hardass that's for sure. But I am getting that adrenal looked at and we will see where we are. -
Like I wrote before, instead of drugs, I decided to deal with my anxiety in a more "natural" way, with natural medicine, supplements, breathing exercises, mind thought training, using techniques I learned in therapy and books, etc. And that works.... -
I have learned sooo much with trucking... learned about myself, my fears, my anxiety and how to handle it... all due to trucking... I fell very attracted to this job because of my love for the road. I didn't want to do anything else, despite of my anxiety... So, I faced the challenges, made the effort, and continue making the effort to change, to learn from my experiences and get better... so I can survive and continue enjoying the road... -
Rocks Thanks this.
