I went with Swift to get experience when I got back into trucking, AFTER reading all the whiney Swift bashing on this forum. I did that because I did my own homework, visiting four local terminals of prospective companies. One respected company (on this forum) nearly jackbooted me off the property, another was blasé, another was clueless, and then there was Swift. I was invited to talk to the recruiter, walk the dispatch/planning area without escort, talk to drivers, and look at the equipment and shop.

We're they the highest paying opportunity? No. I knew that in advance.

Did they treat me fairly? Absolutely. I made pretty good money with them because I ran hard.

Looking back on my experience with Swift the only thing I regret is not signing up for flatbed straight away. I'm very glad to hear they are paying for attending the one week load securement class.

Good thing to have tanker endorsement for flatbed. I haul a lot of tote loads, including Hazmat. Get all your endorsements.

A few did hear recently. He is listening to idle threads etc so they can keep him there. Nobody bashed him and no Swift isn't at the bottom bit down that way. I just try to help others out but it is what it is.

If you're referring to me im not picking.

I'm pointing out that there are far better opportunities out here then any of the companies you pointed out in your rant.

There are to many guys that think you have to start at the bottom of the bottom. Unfortunately this site is loaded with that mentality and the so called job finding experts here steer everyone straight to the bottom.

Then again, based on the list of companies he applied to and was rejected by, based on their "no terminations policy", how would you recommend he proceed? It's one thing to steer a new potential driver to better opportunities, but in his circumstances he needs a company that will get him his CDL, train him, and put him in a truck. Exactly which companies were you recommending that would do all that?

Not the OP the other poster that vowed he wouldn't come back and he went to Swift because they would reimburse school loans.

I understood RedRover was noting his situation. My question still stands. What company might a new flatbed driver consider with a termination on their record that will provide school, training, and a job other than Swift? It would be good for future reference.

Red Rover is doing great for having that company with his circumstances.

Another member has chime in and going to Swift because they will reimburse school loans. We were trying to help him but he caught and attitude since we were suggesting maybe a different company that would pay a lot better to offset the tuition costs.
