Don't know how it is there, but we had some guys leave for Reinhart and it was pretty much a lateral move, money-wise. Their component pay is way less than McLane, but incentives and bonuses make up the difference.

It is a bit low yes but where I'm located rienhart is just starting out so they said they expect the pay to go up as they get more business. I would be one of only 3 drivers and one of those is a shuttle driver so only 2 delivery drivers. That's another part of the decision, do I hope they can compete with sysco and maine's and grow the territory or stick with a some what stable thing in mclane. Also my commute to mclane is 1.5 hours one way so that's another thing I would like to get rid of.

I put in an app with McLane a week ago and got a preliminary call back from them. Still waiting for more word. The $80,000/year and being out a few nights out of the week doesn't sound as bad as the "weeks-to-months" out on the road the long-haulers are either forced, or choose to deal with.
A nice, long, somewhat predictable route with a few days/nights out of the week doing whatever seem quite alright to me. Yet at the same time, I'm still kind of debating whether it's wise to leave the dairy loading/delivering thing I'm doing right now. I mean two dairies to load a night at most and then deliver 4-5 loads dropped in the yard to the cheeseplant. Figure $300/night, plus the dispatch is kind of cool if I've got to come in later in the night for varied reasons.
Long hours are inevitable, but the biggest thing I'm looking for is a consistent start-time each night. -
