And this is the part I have a serious problem with.

A law worded in such a fashion where someone can be charged with DUI even when there was in fact no "D", could only have been bought and paid for by M.A.D.D.

There you have it folks. Money talks.

If you actually read the laws, control of a motor vehicle is when the operator puts the key in the ignition.

How many times have you seen a person who has been out on the town, suddenly wake up and want to go somewhere?

Did they suddenly wake up sober?

I have been at the scene of numerous accidents where they woke up and went for a ride and fell back asleep or passed out again.

Well then some changes need to be made, and any such changes will be slow in coming to any laws that MADD bought and paid for.

"Driving while intoxicated" and "Sleeping while intoxicated" are obviously 2 entirely different things, and should be treated as such.

Simple enough. Just don't have the keys in the driver compartment or the ignition. If they are in the ignition, is why they are considered able to drive.

"Able to drive" is still not "Driving".

Doesn't bother me one bit. I have seen them wake up and the damage they do.

Now I know that some drivers will drink when they are layed over for a weekend in a truck stop....etc. Now let me start off by saying that in no way shape or form do I support DUI, DWI. However if you are held over for a weekend and you have 48 hrs or more before you have to drive again after you stop drinking then I see no problem if your kicking back in your truck drinking a few beers. I have done it many times over the years and I had quit drinking for 24 + hrs before I had to move again Yes I had my truck running depending on how hot/cold it was outside and not once did I ever have any trouble with the law in fact one time I was at the TA in Albq NM and there was a cop working security in the lot, all he asked me was how long before I had to drive again I told him 3 days and he was cool with it. Depending on state law...some go from having the key on you or vehicle running or you have to be driving in order to get a DUI/DWI.

If your going to drink a few then go drive in a hour or so....you need to get put in jail.

If you kicking at some t/s for a weekend and have a few and quit for 24hrs before you drive....then big deal and for someone to snitch a driver out for that is BS.

I have been in the truckstop and the restroom. You can smell alcohol on someone that has been drinking. How is that for the image of a driver to the public.

How can someone know for sure if they are on their 34.

How can someone know that they are not going to the restroom in order to leave.

Personally, if you have to drink, I don't really believe it should be in the truck or truckstop.

It is my opinion, and obvious that there are many that see no problem.

I'm not sure how long M.A.D.D has been around, but the exact same thing happened to a friend of mine, more then 30 years ago. A cop woke him up in his car in a bar parking lot, with the keys in the ignition, and he was popped with a D.U.I. The kicker is, he didn't want to attempt to drive home because he was so drunk, and decided to sleep it off in his car. He did the right thing, but was still busted, just because his keys were in the ignition.
