Why is it only the drivers who are expected to keep their appointment times and not the shippers and receivers?

Please.
Have you not yet realized that if you had anything on the ball you'd be working in dispatch?
Please except that you are a sub human and move forward.

There are always a lot of variables in that equation, are you a shippers truck or a customer truck? Customer trucks get kicked to the back of the line in a lot of instances. Food warehouses always seem to take forever no matter what...it's just the way it has been forever. If you really like waiting around forever, go to a produce house, they seem to know how to back trucks up in big lines waiting for loading. I went to a place that ships canned goods the other day and sat there for about 10 hours after my appointment time before they called me to the door to load. If you don't have good patience, trucking is not the business to be in.

If you were driving a Volvo the detention pay increases so they will get you out quick if it meets their standards.

No matter what though drivers take it in the ### from time to time at shippers / receivers.
I did a load around New Years that was the most F UP load in a long time. Took the clerk 3 hours to print the BOL's. There were like 20 drivers behind me too.
Same load, dispatch got the appointment time wrong. Sat on it for a day. Lucky this is in Phoenix where I delivered and at least got to stay at the house. So then the c*** lies to me, and I knew she was lieing, tells me I have appointment at 4PM. Well, 1 AM that night I was finally empty. Sat over at the receiver all day.
0 compensation, and lost an awesome load that was next to boot.
Welcome to trucking.
