What do you base your resale value comment on. I can sell mine tomorrow for more than I paid 10 years ago.

Yep, kinda left us DE owners in a lurch. One employee did open his own shop for repairs and such and is doing quite well as I understand.
Rumors abound about who bought all the stock and tools/equipment.

No simple answer. These guys built their business over time, found a niche. I wouldn't tell you about my business and how I do it because I have a lot of time and effort invested. You would just be competition.
Yeah, what I jerk I am, but I live in realville, the pie is only so big.
A lot of custom rigs haul for home moving companies because of the light loads. I would never get into that biz. So, there you go, a crumb of knowledge, go follow the trail.

****spoiler alert***----------> There is no difference (for me) between my truck, with 132 inch ICT sleeper and an older W-900 or Peterbilt. I've even run into guys who weighed more than me with a small sleeper...all depends on what you carry. My WB is 290 sleeper is 132, 24.5 inch tires (22.5 inch tires on trailer) Truck weighs 22,804, my 2017 Transcraft Eagle II weighs 11,300.
Grand total with all my stuff in a 3-cabinet HR= 34,140 full of fuel. I can haul over 45K but I never have. I usually pull light stuff long distance. Most of my loads are 10K to maybe 30K at most. Heaviest load I ever hauled on this trailer was 42,000 and I swore I'd never haul another heavy one like that again, felt weird.

 

FWIW....I haul general flatbed/stepdeck freight in 47 states. Everything from building supplies to areospace.
That sign weighed 2200 lbs. My kind of load.
