Tell me about it!! I had such a bad experience with a 2009 Cummins ISX (Complete overhaul done at 675k miles) that now I just want to check things thoroughly before I buy another truck.
C15 ACERT. Get it or not?

I have a bxs acert and Mxs acert and my dad has the nxs acert and wouldn't get rid of them for any of this new junk. Harder on fuel but I always said no use having fuel mileage if your in the shop all the time
Oxbow, cnsper and Ken_SFLAuto Thank this. -

Bxs was cats first attempt at the acert and they were good motors The sdp was the last 2007.5 to 2010. Even a sdp can be good with some mods that we cannot talk about
Lalito.1234, DetroitDudeBro, snowman_w900 and 1 other person Thank this. -
ABSOLUTELY avoid that SDP, unless you are gonna do a delete kit. It almost broke me in repairs. Its was in an 08 peterbilt. HATED the emission problems and software.
SDP is more money than its worth unless you really like the truck its in.
The bxs are good if they have had a few updates done, but they are a different animal than a mxs/nxs. They had some issues with them early on. They were the first of the acert, and easier to convert to 6nz configuration if thats your route. Otherwise, if your thinking acert, go with a mxs/nxs in my opinion.DetroitDudeBro, SAR and Ken_SFLAuto Thank this. -
@Yves kanevil. Beat me to it!

Well Ken looks like you got some good feedback. I have an MXS in my Pete and just love it. It's not the best fuel mileage but I pull heavy most times. Good luck in your search.
snowman_w900 and Ken_SFLAuto Thank this. -
NXS owner here, to be honest with you, I bought my truck for the engine.
I LOVE it!!!!!!Ken_SFLAuto Thanks this. -
MXS owner since May 2010; 2007 C15.. Just passed 900k and the only real issue has been broken studs; they werent updated when i bought the truck. Had update done at CAT at about 500k when they broke. I average over 8mpg, light loads and 60mph max. Nothing major replaced otherwise, but i know its coming someday
Ken_SFLAuto Thanks this. -
Ceh3t Thanks this.
