Local work within 100 mile radius is all I have ever done. $5-600 a day gross is what we were making when I started 20 years ago. I wouldn't even consider working for now that because expenses have doubled since then.

Up to about a year ago I was still in the trucking business. I was pulling reefer out of Florida into the Midwest. Round trip grossing around 4700.00. To me that was a good job but I had very little home time, expense of eating on the road plus sometimes idling a lot of fuel. On the average of $940.00 a day was real good until you start to deduct those kind of expenses. $600.00 probably is a little low for a days work but I don`t see how anyone could complain about $700.00 a day and be home at that. If I lived in Chicago you for sure could take the ad down at that.

Maybe on a 100 miles, 8-5 day, but not a 300 miles whole day gig.
For what OP is asking I would also quote a $1000

Just as BRS said, I too had a dedicated account, it netted me $950 a day. I
I said reasonable, not always acceptable.

I appreciate the level-headed response. Unlike others on this forum you sound rationale and pleasant to deal with. These other truckers are total goons. Fact is this is a commodity service and automated driving in the next 10 years will make it even more so. You are on to something though by being polite and pleasant. I can have my choice of drivers for $3 per mile, why would I want to deal with a jerk who is going to nickel and dime me. Truckers seem to treat everything transactionally. No wonder truckers get no respect. They seem to show none here.

I will do it for free! I'm not in trucking for the money. The glory is a whole lot more important!

Oh yeah, Mr Bigshot here. I didn't know there were millionaire truckers all over the road. You must pull your 18 wheeler into Mar a Lago everyday and have your butler park it for you. If someone is willing to do it for 600 and you say you'd do it for 900 - that makes you greedy. It doesn't make you a good businessman. You aren't going to have much business. You'll be sitting idle.

You don't seem to understand, for $600 per day, you might just close down your business and go work as a company driver for $300 per day. People who do it for $600, simply don't know how to run numbers, they are just drivers, not businessmen, there are fixed costs, which you can't get around.
Honestly, I just think you are a bored troll, if you were a successful businessman yourself, you would not be making such stupid statements.
