    Hey guys,
I have a 2011 Freightliner Cascadia that is having some weird electrical issues. Recently, the truck will lose power while I'm driving. It is intermittent and will turn back on by itself. Today, my headlight switch seems to be reversed. When it's in the "off" position, the lights are on and vice versa. Sometimes the switch doesn't work at all. I have the same problem with the buttons on my steering wheel (ex: cruise control, jake brakes, etc.) This all started today. Any ideas?
I am going to pull over in a minute to check the wiring but I'm not really sure which wires to look at first.
    Thanks in advance.

I have a 2009 Cascadia. There was a recall on the SAM chassis. Might be worth talking to a dealer to see if that could be your problem.

    Weswolf and 25(2)+2 Thank this.

Thanks for the advice. We had the Freightliner dealer check for recalls about 2 months ago and the SAM Chassis wasn't one of them. Although it definitely sounds like something to do with that area.

that recall was probably the update to the sam chassis and cab programming. There is a water intrusion recall related to the sam chassis, but I dont think that is your problem. I have not done a whole lot with cascadias and electrical issues, but I know they will do some zaney stuff when things are askew. You need to have someone competent take a look at this truck unless there a really slick frieghtliner tech on here, you may be SOL

oh ya, the windshields tend to leak on the cascadia's a lot. Its a thing they do, witch is wierd. We get a random one every couple of months. Western Stars will have some wacky water leaks to.

    Weswolf Thanks this.

I appreciate your reply. We caulked the windshield when we first bought the truck but have noticed it's started leaking again. I plan to seal it this weekend and will see if that solves the problem. I'll report back when I know more.

I have not had the pleasure of removing a cascadia steering wheel, but I am relatively certain these trucks do not have clock springs. That being said even if it did have a clock spring, the chances of it causing these particular problems would warrant a mega millions and power ball ticket purchase.

Two years ago they had a clock spring in the steering column that would fail and you would lose the function of the steering wheel buttons.
