Nah....never had the opportunity, like I mentioned, at $3k a week, everybody wanted to jump on board.

Obviously everybody knows about Wonder Bread. Generations grew up on it, as did I. Wonder Bread was owned by Interstate Brands Corp., before they changed their name to Hostess Brands after we came out of bankruptcy around 2009, and then went right back into again a year later, til about November of 2012 when they finally closed forever. Before IBC, Purina owned Wonder Bread. We would of been part of Bimbo Bakeries, when they offered to buy us out in 2007, but that was stopped, due to antitrust laws, saying Bimbo would monopolize the industry. So we did have a chance to stay alive at one point.

IBC did pay exceptionally well. I was there for 10 years, and during that time, we averaged around $60-100k a year. After around 2009 when we came outta bankruptcy, they switched us over to trip rate, and that's when we went up to making $90-140k a year. Back then, sales were not good, because of the low carb craze that was popular back then. It's what put us into bankruptcy in the first place. They stopped hiring new drivers at one point, and figured it was cheaper to pay us OT instead. The amount of money we were making was ridiculous. The biggest paycheck I ever made their was about $3500 in one week. The twin turnpike runs paid even more.

Even though Hostess/IBC went under, their products still reamain to this day. Hostess Cakes is still run by Hostess Brands, Wonder Bread is owned by Flowers Foods, Beefsteak Bread is owned by Bimbo Bakeries, Drakes Cakes is owned by either Little Debbies or JJ Snacks (I forgot which one owns them), and lastly...Twinkies is owned by Papst Blue Ribbon Beer ( who would've thunk it).

Heard a story from one our drivers who was around in the PFS days. When he finished up his day the last stop, a Taco Bell, wouldn't give him lunch. The manager at the McDonald's across the street did when he parked the PFS trailer with all the logos on the McDonald's lot

I think McLane still runs doubles on the Florida turnpike.

Savvy McDonalds manager. :^) "He might deliver to those places, but when it goes in his own mouth he eats here." I would've given that driver lunch every day.

I worked for PFS in Orlando in the 90s and was a picker/loader on the Pompano crew which loaded doubles in your picture. It brought back a lot of good memories. I loved PFS and was sad to see it go. I now live in Indianapolis and drive for US .

That's the only real life picture of a PFS rig I have ever seen on the internet. I know there kind of a long gone outfit now part of trucking history though.

The biggest contribution PFS made was the invention of the stuffed crust pizza I'm a big fan. I remember when it came out in 1996 it was an engineering marvel!

Mike you didn't even say anything about the Frito truck to the right, which happened to be the best cab over I have ever driven.
