Parking enforcement has been around forever, now I can't speak of the exact laws where FW was but since you were former LEO as was I do you really think an Officer would write a ticket knowing he is going to lose in court.
I'm not saying I would've written a ticket at all however FW saw the signs and still parked, anyone who says they wouldn't consider those signs to include a bobtail truck are just being an axx. Come on drivers were supposed to be professional drivers and to not recognize a clearly posted sign for what it's intention is well that just silly.
Besides FW posted a no box truck picture sign so does he believe it doesn't include his combination tractor and trailer since it's only showing a box truck.gentleroger and spyder7723 Thank this. -

Let's use logical examples ..
Say you own a property where the lot is small and a tractor trailer can't safely maneuver within the lot without hitting anything but smaller vehicles like say a truck with no trailer would be just fine. That would be a perfect example of why someone would choose to post this sign:
Now if you didn't want any tractor trailer, semi truck no trailer, box truck etc on your property then an example of a sign to use for that would be something like this:
There are signs for almost every example you could think of.drvrtech77 and Scott72 Thank this. -
Bad citations are issued I agree however drivers (CMV) also break laws and rules.
I know not every criminal gets arrested (seems they lose elections though...lol)
but not every driver that parks illegally gets ticketed either, unfortunately FW got caught he just can't seem to admit HIS mistake.
FW admitted he was parked in the lot (he debates whether it was Walmart or Burger King) he also admits to seeing the sign and choosing to interpret it his way when most every other driver would read and comprehend it means no CMV.
He wants to blame the cop for doing his job while the truth is FW didn't do his job by knowing the rules/laws/regulations that pertain to the operation of a CMV.
Why not man up and say I shouldn't have parked there, now the officer could have not written the ticket but I'd bet FW argued or debated that he was right and the officer is wrong.
I can tell you NO court case has ever been won on the side of the road or parking lot.
If FW really feels he was unjustly cited take it to court plead his case and try and beat it.
My guess is he's not the 1st or last driver to be cited. So without a doubt it's probably already stood against a challenge.
Now if FW wants I'll be glad to go to court with him and record the proceedings for all of us to critique the hearing.
Either way good luck whipper snapper.gentleroger, spyder7723 and HalpinUout Thank this.
