Why I'm going to be "solar powered" from now on.

I was just thinking the same thing about switching up to days mostly. The past two days have been great for me.

I'm feeling less fatigued by the end of the day (as evidenced by easier backing when shutting down!) Seems it takes a bit more concentration for me to stay focused at night. Likely due to these crappy Volvo headlights.

Can we put a ban on day time headlights? Seems like a good idea but I see way too many people at night with them. Problem is coming up on a cars rear with essentially no warning because of zero tail lights... and I'm sure they think their lights are on.

 

I absolutely hate the projector headlights on the newer pickups. Every time they hit a dip in the road it looks like they're flashing the high beams at you. I don't know how the DOT could approve headlights that are that poorly designed.

 

The lights at night don't bother me unless a leo has someone pulled over with those lights pointed towards the oncoming vehicle's. those are pretty darn bright.

I have been seeing a lot of those since the time change too... I was wondering what the common thread was to so many... now it makes more sense.

 

Guess I'm pretty lucky ... I get a chance to mix it up a bit... as soon as I get tired of running daytime things happen and I end up driving nights for a bit. Then after running nights I get some extra time in a load and end up back on days.

Pros and Cons to Both

Guess my eyes are just not as sensitive as others.... bright lights have never really bothered me and I doubt my retinas are now burnt because of them... I'll take a flash of the brights over nothing any day.... I see it as an attempt to communicate so it's all good.... yes, I would prefer they just turn their dims off and on but good either way.

Now those dang bright blue flashing cop lights at the start of a construction area... ya, those will cause an accident at some point.

 

Agreed, the worst. You'd think they know just how obnoxiously bright they are.

Perhaps to stave off rubber neckers by keeping the lights in our periphery and eyes on road in front of us? That's my attempt at an explanation anyway.

 

I always prefer running at night, though I was northeast regional doing a lot of loads between DC and Mass so avoiding traffic was huge. I have light sensitive eyes so I feel your pain with the people fallowing you running high beams. My solution came to me one night when I was riding my motorcycle. I wear a german helmet and glasses when I ride. My night glasses are yellow tint. You would be amazed how much glare yellow tinted lenses cut out. I found I could actually see better at night with them on. Try it sometime.

 

The lights that get on MY nerves are those high powered spots in construction zones.

This time of year isn't a good time for night driving anyways. Snowstorms prefer to work at night over day.
