Denied by Wil-trans/Jim Palmer

Well I was already accepted by drivers solutions to train for a job at PAM Transport and since I rescheduled once for the DOT physical they told me to just contact them when I get it done and they will set me a new training date so I figured I'll check out some other companies before I dive in with PAM.

I looked into Millis and they require a GED minimum so I put them on the back burner at the moment because I am currently unemployed and have been for a substantial amount of time. And the testing for my state is $30 per section and there is 4-5 sections I believe.

I mean I've made enough money under the table at my friends sawmill to live off of but he won't verify anything because he operates it illegal as it is. And after the bills there's nothing really left.

So my work history as far as jobs that would appear on a income verification check is none existent all the way back to 2008 and that job was a dollar general clerk for a mere 8 months.

I believe my job history might be what knocked me out but I can't say for sure because I was honest about my education as well.

Recruiter from Jim Palmer even had the nerve to say "Sorry but we decided to go with another applicant.". Like their company wasn't a starter company lol. I mean a good starter company but still it's not like they're very selective.

Anywho does anyone know of any companies I could get on with that pays better than PAM and has more things included like transportation, meals, ect. And is a little more lenient as far as work history and education goes?

Well the main issue with that is I was accepted by driver solutions. Not so much PAM Transport and I feel like once I'm done with training they may pull the same crap and get me stuck with a $6000 bill for crappy c-1 driving academy training and ill still be looking for a job only difference would be I have my CDL an no experience vs. No CDL or experience.

Kind of a paradox. But I might try Celadon. I believe since they run their own driving academy I might be a little more secure with getting a job through them as long as they accept me into their driving academy.

Just need some input before I take that plunge.... If all else fails I will go through driver solutions and hope for the best and if PAM decides to not hire me I can apply at a local company here that literally only has 21 trucks rolling and mainly hauls coal and gravel. Pay sucks but its better than working for pennies under the table.

 

Lol I already said Palmer wasn't selective. If you paid attention you would see I said they portrayed themselves as selective by stating they decided to go with another applicant like their wasn't 200+ applications that went through with mine and mine wasn't just kicked for the obvious. They wanted to pretend they go through each one by hand.

And a GED really isn't showing anything other than you paid $130+ dollars to do the test and was able to do remedial math, So I honestly don't get your point on that one.

 

But anywho anyone have a response that doesn't pertain to someone stroking their ego because "they stuck it out the full 4 years in H.S."?

I have my reasons for not completing and this wasn't started just to hear everyone opinion on my educational choices in my life. Can't afford to do the G.E.D until I have a better paying job. $40 a day at a sawmill barely keeps me from starving and keeps my lights on.

And living in an area with a population of around 300 really limits your job opportunities with visible tattoos (I know, I know crucify me over this too please)

So any intelligent responses that actually has something to do with what I've asked or should I start supplying the torches for the mob?
