I turn down lot of freight, they sent me one tire load with multiple stops & driver unload. Then I refused an Amazon to California.

Ahh. So this is them conceding defeat and repositioning. Or is this them sending you to Phoenix so some one can smack your hand and yell "bad driver."

I would have done the same for that tire load.
And I turned down an Amazon load this morning as well, going to San Bernardino, CA. I had just unloaded and my 14 ran out 10 minutes before, so I had to drive 5 miles illegally to get to parking. They wanted it picked up 3 hours later.

    I lucked out today.
I was sent 2 preplans. The first was from Kent, WA to Lewiston, ID - a Sears load with an extra stop.
The second was a Clearwater paper load from Lewiston to OH.
I didn't get to it in time because I was asleep and the Sears load was removed, but the paper load remained.
So I have the same miles but one less trip. I'm empty to Lewiston.

Today marks 5 years with Swift, 100% on time, no accidents, and 636,000 miles; 516,000 in this truck and about 2,750,000 on and off since 1967.

I was thinking today, that you have to be close to getting your truck paid off. If not already.

Next spring and that's going to make it hard to stay. Nothing I want to go into now but Swift, with the exception of a few total peckerheads, has been good to me. They've been straight and above board starting with Kim Deducca, my recruiter, to Lucy Herrera, who I worked with on my truck lease and buyout as well as almost all the other Swift people I've dealt with.

When I started my intention was to stay until my school loan was paid and move to a "better" company. Starting with the first Swift driver I met, Inkeeper, I encountered numerous drivers, including you, that had been with the company for years. After that first year I stayed "just a bit longer " until the years just rolled by.

Catch me if you can sir. Been here almost 11 years. Had an offer to go back to the hotel business a few months ago, declined saying it sounded too much like work.

After meeting you and referring you to Bill, I figured if you could put up with his foolishness as a mentor, you would be able to handle almost anything Swift threw at you. I have good instincts!

    A21CAV and FerrissWheel Thank this.

It has been a fun day, starting out at the silver dollar place at mile 16 in Montana at 0530.
    Snow, and snow covered roads.
I was taking it easy at about 45, with cars and trucks passing me at 60. I think they are crazy, they probably think I am. Whatever.
I would rather be safe than sorry.

One truck was sorry a bit later. He had slid into the ditch.

No way I will deliver this load on time on Monday. Too much weather coming in with 1600 miles to go.
It was already too late with the slow conditions today. I needed a 600 mile day for the next two days, and I fell short today. And I am heading into more of it. The snow is all around me, and directed with me.
I'm hoping I can deliver by Wednesday so I can get this load in this weeks paycheck. If not, a zero paycheck next week.

But a very good one the week after.
