It was in a CMV. Yes it was a big mistake this could be one of my worst ever, ever. I have basically been unemployed ever since, even going on food stamps I have lost a lot including a long relationship. Oddly I have been able to maintain a good credit score and a small investment house in Spokane that I would use as collateral. Thanks for the feedback. Yes I would get my own authority I was concerned about finding loads.

If you stretch out your profit margins too thin from excess insurance costs, you could end up getting the truck repossessed, or overdraw your credit accounts trying to keep up. If you're going "full owner op" then you'll be buying the truck under your credit, recent dui means you don't have many fallback options(at least as an OTR driver), so if you fail in this endeavor it would be difficult to restart.
I would check out @Chinatown's note about working at TransAm. If they allow you to lease, you might get a hefty break on insurance buying through them. Setup on a 3yr lease, buy the truck out once you get to the 5yr mark from your DUI, then go "full owner op".

Yep. That takes a special kind of stupid. But not to many of us can say we've never done anything that qualifies as special stupid.

Meanwhile I'm thinking of the scene in Convoy, when he is enjoying a brew going down the highway lol. It's just a different age now, you talk to guys that have been driving since the 70's and hear some crazy stories.

Idk. To me really stupid is really stupid. It's not my place to say his stupid mistake is worse than my stupid mistakes. And I've done some really really stupid things in my life.
