For me it varies by condition. Sometimes I would hang one single on the right rear, lock the power divider and get through with no problem. One time I got stuck in Bellingham, was full chained. When I got unloaded started to pull out of the dock. It was slightly inclined up hill. my drives dug down through about 6" of ice and I was stuck. $300 for tow bill. If I buy another truck it will have double lockers for sure.

I saw 1 cop with a truck pulled over near Wilsonville. I took the 205 and didn't see another. Heck, I didn't even see a plow out.

Oregon is so backwards when it comes to dealing with snow and ice. I crossed the WA border and the roads were salted, groomed and de-icer trucks were working the on and off ramps.

I went from 25 mph to 60 mph as soon as I crossed the bridge.

I got stuck backed up to a snowy/icy dock once. Couldn't back up or go forwrard to 'rock' it. Got my 20 ton jack and lifted each axle and dug all the ice out under the tires with shovel and hammer. Cleared a path in front of the drives for a few feet and got a good running start to get out of the customer's unscraped lot.

Good job getting out. I called the tow truck, he was there in less than 30 min, pulled me out and I went on to pickup my next load on time. It was the truck in my avatar. 2001 pre EGR 12.7. Detroit averaged 7.3 mpg measured over 50 K miles.

yeah in that case might be quicker for the tow. I was empty and next load didn't pick up til the next morning. I remember getting up on the freeway and socked in with deadstopped traffic. Pulled over to the side and got my shovel out and parked on bare pavement and did an 8 hour split sleeper right there, made it ontime to my shipper next morning.

Anybody planning to run Colorado between 10 pm today 12/15 and Sunday 12/18, they are expecting up to 24" of snow along, north of, and south of the I-70 corridor, chain laws are already starting to go up. Expect to be chaining on US 550, US 50, US 24, US 40, I-70 and US 285.

don't know if the chain law is still in affect but I hung my chains back on the rack, didn't need em anymore. nothing but wet pavemet on the highway and slush off with a few exceptions.

the majority of trucks stopped by the law were on I-5 , portions of the 5 were ok. state police were doing drive bys checking chains as well. if anyone slipped on through more power to yah.

It's weird it hit the Portland area so hard. Klamath falls and northern Cali didn't even get snow. Trying to spit snow right now on top of MT. Hebron on 97 but I don't think it is going to do anything
