The one I drove at SuperValu was only good for 350 miles or so, which sometimes necessitated fueling up on the road. Quite the pain in the butt for a spoiled grocery guy! We ended up shipping that unit to another facility and we now only run diesel power.

We do have assigned trucks, and if for whatever reason I don't use mine for a day and someone else does, that is exactly what will happen if I find trash in it. I take a lot of time to keep my truck clean, and I refuse to sit in someone else's filth.

We have the same problem, idiots just jumping in whatever they feel like. Nobody wants to do anything about it either.

Fortunately I arrive before they do.

Ditto as far as cracking down on the truck stealing anything being done has pretty much been non-existent.

Well, we're running 3 configurations, single axle with ISX12G and Allison, tandem axle with ISX12G and Allison, and single axle with ISX12G and Eaton 10spd Ultrashift. We have an assortment of tank sizes from 115GGE to 170GGE (gasoline gallon equivalent). Our Allison-equipped trucks get between 4.7-5.5mpg on average, the Eatons get 6-6.3mpg. As to the mile range, our larger-tanked trucks will actually run 500-600 miles between refills, more in cold weather. We've got a chart in each truck giving the approximate mileage you can travel on a certain tank pressure, at a given ambient temperature, with our 170GGE rigs able to travel 700+ miles on a tank below 40 degrees at our usual loaded weight. We run them everywhere from the Canada/NY line south to Alexandria VA, west to mid-Ohio, out of our NY plant.

I appreciate the time you took to answer what was basically a dumb question to begin with. Of course different trucks get different results.

It wasn't a dumb question. I'm glad you asked because I was curious about it myself.

I get better mileage than that with my diesel.

misterG, Big Don and JPenn Thank this.
