I am sitting around on layoff again, and I'm pretty well fed up with working for other people. I am a mechanic, not a driver, but I have very nearly all the equipment to go independent and mobile, including a decent looking box van. However, I have never dealt with independent repair. I'd assume owner ops would be more likely to frequent that sort of service, rather than company drivers, but how do you connect?
I guess what I'm asking is, once I'm out there, how do I tell you I'm out there? What would draw you to use my mobile service rather than another, or limp it to a shop?
Mobile repair- Who uses it?

If you turn up on a Google search and you know what you're talking about. I'll hire you if I'm in a pinch while going through the area. Also need to be fluent in English. I will pay more to know it's done right and I won't need to fix it again in 50 miles. Could probably do decent with gel ups when it's very cold ...if they don't need towed in..

Owner-ops will either fix their crap before rolling or take the chance on getting a ticket.
Overall making a full time gig out of just road service is hard to do. Road service pays well, but it is so hit and miss it really needs to be a part of a shop that offers more service.Last edited: Jan 26, 2017

The last time I had fuel gel was in 1983. I think if your fuel gels then congress has to do something.

Anybody with a truck will use u,not just for breakdowns.make sure ur rate is competitive and u have access to all the common parts.i know a guy in my area who works on trucks on the weekend when drivers are taking a brake at home, they call him tell him what needed to be done and monday they're ready to roll again.
U can advertise in ntts breakdown and put some business cards in weight stations and rest areas around you. -

Fuel, tires and damage from blow outs. A way to read and clear faults in an ECU for derates and other emissions related BS,

How about a mobile service to fix the emissions for good. You'll do just fine. Can even pay in cash.
Ruthless Thanks this. -

If your going to do tires get a good stock and do your damnedest to be able to accept Michelin account many large carriers simply use the nearest road side repair that has a Michelin account USA literally contracts out the road service hotline to Michelin so if I got a flat I don't even call my company I call Michelin via a extension on my companies driver line that connects me to Michelin road side service
