Is millis transfer still a good company too work for

Double clutch?

 

They must have changed at MTI. When I went through their training 17 years ago they had their own motel in Trenton and Bill took all the time in the world to teach you.

They stopped leasing the motel and it's since been leveled.

 

Yes, that is what they called it. You cannot float gears. You press the clutch all the way to the floor to go in 1st or 2nd gear. When upshifting, you only press the clutch about 2 inches then shift to neutral, then press the clutch again to shift to the next highest gear. When downshifting, you press the clutch, put it in neutral, then rev the engine to 1,500 rpms at the same time, then from neutral you engage the clutch again to drop it in the next lower gear. It takes a lot of practice.

 

Ok, the director of the Tech school contacted me by email and pretty much gave me the whole scoop. He said that these mega trucking company schools are not for newbs. I am going tomorrow to enroll and fill out financial aid paperwork. They offer hazmat and double and triple trailer training and endorsements. I will update sometime either tmw evening or Tuesday.

 

Just an update - I am officially enrolled and have my student ID. Orientation is tomorrow and Friday. Class Starts March 2 and ends April 25.
