No no no. We don't go sightseeing or to places that sound like fun. Not in the first 6 months or so that's a good way to get to a black hole and get killed getting out. Learn your lane stay in your lane. Then expand your lane. Learn the game. I'm running a load from Bakersfield CA to Denver for almost 4 grand. I live in Denver but I already know I got a 1.87 leaving. Yes it's reefer but I did really good on Van also.

Load turned out to be `5k lbs of scented soap. :D

Shipper required clean, odor free trailer. I wait for a couple of hours then finally get called to a dock. Back in, sit and wait, all the while I'm looking to see if the manager will come out and tell me they can't load my truck. After 10 mins or so, trailer starts rockin, 20 mins later I'm loaded and have the bills.

One thing I'm worried about though, are those worms. I don't think I got 100% of them. I'm sure there are still some stuck in cracks, and whichever ones survived, if these worms are larvae, could turn into flies, and then trailer will be full of flies when I get to receiver. Guess I'll have to wait til I get there to find out, cuz trailer is sealed with a cable seal.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to get my 34 hour reset, no matter how many pages I tear out and redo. Shouldn't be too bad, though. I didn't start my week until Tuesday, and I have 2 more days to go 850 miles. And I'll stop in TN to visit my buddy and his wife again for supper.

Next time I get over by KC, I'm gonna look for that load on the board, if there is one that day, and I'm gonna call on it and start a conversation.

There was a load Laredo to Fernley, NV (Over by Reno) that I had thought about calling on. Looked like a really nice ride. I'd have to go through Hoover Dam.

One question - on my Rand McNally atlas, it shows routes that are highlighted, which are designated truck routes. But then you have the ones that are not highlighted, and I assume trucks aren't allowed on them.

There is a US 93 that runs between Phoenix and Kingman. It's not highlighted, but I don't see it on the list of restricted routes. I'm sure trucks are allowed on it, but why isn't it highlighted?

93 is a good road for trucks. I used it the first week driving my own truck. going from Findlay to El Paso. I'm not sure why it's not highlighted? Has something to do with it being a ?SSTD? route or not? Then to go from vegas to Findlay you have to take a bunch of 2 lane. nice drive but it is slow, windy and some hills.

I found out it wasn't a truck route when homeland security banned trucks from going over the dam but since they put a truck bridge in, you can go that way. That's from what I read from others. Looks like a beautiful run. I love being out in the wide open. Feels free. Feels American.

When I was importing, every now and then customs would charge me for the privilege of opening and inspecting the cargo in the container. With wait times it could add a week to customs clearance.

I received a container from Indonesia. It went for inspection. Then I got a call they had a delay, because when they opened the doors an avalanche of giant ####roaches poured out. Apparently they laid eggs inside the corrugation in the boxes. I immediately booked a flight to Indonesia and found they were storing corrugated boxes in an open shed. Their ####roaches grow to 5-6" long.

Customs charged me to fumigate the container.

Brokers are notorious for "misrepresenting the truth". Over the years I have had them try to pass cowhides off as "fur coats "

Also on the flatbed side they will try passing those Crushed Cars off as "Baled Metal". No way I would haul cowhides in a brand new trailer.

Hides are exported to be tanned, the EPA does not allow the chemicals into the US that are used to make shiney leather.
