Some of the systems only communicate with the truck and do not communicate with the Qualcomm relaying information back to Schneider. Atleast that's how it has been explained to me by others.

Well just to add to the confusion, during IC orientation the safety director gave a speech via speaker phone to the class.
I had never had a truck with a collision avoidance system, and was wondering if a "critical event" would be relayed to SNI if I found myself tailgating (I phrase it like that because I find myself tailgating every time another truck passes me).
He said "No", and this was directed to the entire class with all types of trucks and systems. So my understanding was that only a hard brake and a potential roll over would initiate a critical event, . I personally got a roll over "critical event" months ago at a cat litter place out in the high desert of CA with crazy dangerous hairpin turns. It said I was doing 30 mph around one while leaving loaded. Total BS, but I'm not sure that is part of the same system. -

Bendix wingman, meritor onguard and Detroit assurance are the only 3 to chose from per the letter which I personally have a copy of.
Golden Goose and Home_on_wheels Thank this. -

Well my main concern at the moment is whether I will have to replace VEC with another system on my 2016 Volvo at my expense. This after hitting a deer in PA a couple of months ago, and having a new front radar unit installed (covered by insurance) for almost 3 grand.
I've gotten used to the system, and the main issues I have are taking a curve and it senses a vehicle in the OTHER lane, which due to the curve it thinks it is in front of me. Also, while semi dozing on a nice cruise, I realize I am no longer doing 70 but 60 for the last don't know how many miles, cause there is a company truck WAY up ahead of me.
I was pulling a tanker of LOX years ago on I-10 outside of L.A. in the desert. Late at night, not much traffic, just a bunch of tail lights in the distance. I'm on auto pilot. All of a sudden, I realize the car up ahead is totally stopped on the interstate. It was close enough to put a scare in me, but probably still far enough ahead that a collision avoidance system would not yet have activated.
I go around, and start to call 911. I put the phone to my ear, and look in the mirrors just in time to see a huge fireball erupt, like a movie set explosion. I never learned whether anyone was in the stopped car or not, and couldn't find anything in the news the next day.Last edited: Feb 14, 2017

Are they forcing you to a 2010 emissions truck also or is that just new hires...?
