In respect to drozzer thread "Walmart here I come". I have started a thread directed towards the general public, future candidates, and current drivers to discuss the "ins and outs" and "opinions" of Walmart.

Please feel free to ask any questions or state any concerns you may have while working or considering working for Walmart here: I ask my fellow drivers and forum members to be directed towards the specific thread so that each thread remains on topic. Thanks

Walmart is a good company with nice people to work with atleast at my locations. But there's a lot of hype about driving for Walmart that I didn't find when comparing it to other decent trucking jobs I've had over the years.

Still don't mind that I made move as it works with my situation.

If the schedule and lifestyle of being gone for up to 5 days works. I think your insurance will be on par or cheaper at walmart not for sure as I don't have a family. I have a friend/coworker in Texas and if I recall his like $625-650/month. $264/per week is a lot!!
You will definitely bring home more than 600 per week!! You would have to be the worst driver in the history of trucking to not LOL.

I had a great job, good pay, home every night. My decision to leave my job after 15 1/2 years wasn't based on money, it was that my job was Ltl, a lot of hard physical work, and I'm not getting any younger. I've driven 29 years, done different jobs, did my research, had a few other opportunities, but I feel Walmart would be a great job for me, kids older and do not need so much home time anymore. I appreciate all of the information on these threads! Everyone has different reasons for why they want to be at Walmart. I start orientation next week . Nervous about the change but excited to be a part of the Walmart family!

If you were a city driver by the sounds of it your body will thank you once you start working here. LTL is some of the best money in trucking, but city drivers really work for it.
