Lets say i have a load that needs 4 Binders. Can i use 2 Chains total and hook 2 binders to each chain? To cover 30,000 lbs lets say? Because i always went off of 6600 LBS as thats what my Chains are rated for...RStewart Thanks this. -
The chain is the weakest link. It is rated at 6600. Nothing changes that. Now some freight allows you to use 1 Chain and 2 binders at 2 different points. A hummer for example. But that doesnt change the wll rating.
So say you got an armored hummer that weighs 17k lbs. It must have 4 points of securement because it's wheeled machinery. 1 chain in the front, 1 in the back and 1 binder at each corner. Hook a chain around the trailer spool. Fish it up through the securement ring on the machine and tighten your binder. You've got a 16 ft chain but only used 4 ft of it. Fish the slack through the ring on the other corner then hook around the spool. Tighten the binder. 1 chain, 2 binders, 2 points of attachment. The wll doesn't change, but in effect you have used 1 long chain as 2 short ones.Airborne, RStewart, Highway Sailor and 1 other person Thank this. -

Do you mean hooking it up as if the one chain was acting as 2 chains by having slack in the chain between two separate securements? If so then yes as it is no different then if you just had 2 shorter chains or cut that chain in two.Airborne, Highway Sailor and Klleetrucking Thank this. -
Humvees, tractors, etc, if it's under 12k, I've always only ran two chains (one on front, one on the back OR one each side), each with one binder. I run the chain around 2 spools, up through the tie-down point, whatever kind it may be, through the other tie-down point, and back down around 2 spools. My binder between the 2 tie-down points whenever it fits. If it doesn't fit, I'll put it on one end or the other.RStewart Thanks this. -
