Buying my first truck in April. I'm trying to see who is good to lease on to?

Which is better percentage or paid by the mile? What are the ins & outs? I'm open to otr or dedicated local (Atlanta is home)

Trailer fees, insurance ? Any info would help

In all honesty,.. you need to have these questions figured out well before ever looking at trucks.

Figure out what kind of trailer and work you will be doing. Then,.. you buy the truck spec'd to match what you need it for.

Personally,.. I prefer percentage. As long as you get a copy of the rate/con before picking up the load,.. it eliminates any questions when your settlement comes.

If you dont own a trailer,.. then its more affordable to lease on. Keep in mind,. if you plan to finance a truck,.. that will be an added expense as will be the trailer rental/lease,.. among the multitude of other expenses you will incur.

I would strongly suggest doing some serious homework and research before committing yourself to any contracts. Think it through and have a plan worked out.

Beware, just because you own a truck doesn't mean you can lease onto whoever you choose.

Some outfits require a certain truck to lease on with them. Like Dev said, rule one regarding no truck. Lease first then truck.some say truck after 012 is to old, some have weight restrictions, most all have mileage restrictions.

I hear ya I'm in the same boat.
I'm starting a new restaurant, I have no idea what ovens and grills I need. I don't know whether to purchase my food from sysco or some other vendors or even if I should be breakfast only or offer a lunch menu too.

I just got a job as an electricians helper and I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out which jumper cables to buy and how many extension cords I'll need my first day. My tool belt only has two lasso holders. I'm thinking I'll just wear my hundred footer around my chest like a mountain climber. I'm gonna bring all my cell phone chargers but I'm afraid our customers may use android help?!!

When I bought the truck I leased on to the guys I had worked for as a driver (for another owner leased on to them) for 5 years. I knew they were good with cash flow and never bouncing paychecks , gave o/os fuel money advances, and bailed them out from over the road disastrous failures such as busted turbos or shattered differentials; 3-5K repairs.
But if that was such a random search I'd go with Schneider/Landstar/Mercer to begin with.

Yes, I have my own MC# and and use Load boards. DAT Power that is - the only one I use. I take some CH Robinson freight too, so I work off of their website also. Previously, when I was leased on, I could not decide where I go.
