Do you report bad drivers?

The post goes to whom it may concern.

 

Since we are all suppose to be professionals out here, to many act like monkeys in a banana store.
We should be better examples.
If another truck driver is being a total ####### to myself or others, I have no problem calling his company and speaking directly to the saftey director.
I always make sure they get the truck and trailer numbers, the time of the rude behaior, etc..
Saftey directors are the best source, since they are the ones directly responsible for monitoring CSA scores.
And they most definitely want to keep the scores below threshold.
To many red checks above standards, and they get a nice little visit from DOT Auditors who can access fines, penalties, courses of action, and even up to an including shut downs.

 

They have no way to find out. The saftey director's are very discreet about keeping that confidential.

 

Well if it is it's you vs him. Also if the driver has been thee. Not saying to not To do it. It's a judgement call on what you need to do.

 

Most saftey director's I have spoken to over the last 14 years have been appreciative and cordial.
It's hard to know what 100, 200, or more drivers are actually doing or how they are behaving.
Some have even called me back letting me know the outcome of their conversation with the driver.
I have gone as far as sending some of them footage off of my dash cam to validate the irresponsible behavior of that driver.

 

Not really. If he was being responsible then he wouldn't have been called on the carpet.
There was one driver that did get fired, but the saftey director had other calls on the driver over a period of months for similar infractions.
Most don't want to fire drivers without first trying to correct the unfavorable behavior. They do that as a last resort.
Usually a good swift kick in the backside does the trick.
Another driver was put on probation and threatened with a 2500 fine and possible termination if he was caught again in 6 months.
He was talking on his cell phone and came flying through a truckstop in Arkansas. He barely missed me and another driver as we came out between parked trucks.
