Hello all. A Mercer recruiter called Friday and said that my application was approved. I also applied with Landstar but I have to take the hazmat test before they will approve my application. I haven't decided if I'm going to go with Mercer or just wait and do Landstar. If I decide to go with Mercer, I'll be in orientation on 3/13. I'll be pulling a van.

    Chickadee and Crusader66 Thank this.

It was our sister company at Crete, so it was an easy swap for me and i have all of my equipment now.

I've been told that Landstar is probably a better place to be if your goal is to pull a van long term. Maybe someone with more knowledge about the situation will chime in but there isn't many Mercer van guys on here. I would think drivers at Mercer pulling a van are making money cause I see them everywhere. Either way you go I wish you the best.

Thanks, @RStewart! I used to pull flatbed for an owner operator that was leased on to Mercer years ago but then he switched over to Landstar. I don't really have a desire to do flatbed at the moment but I may change my mind later.

While i wouldn't want to do it, many have figured out how to make decent money with a van so obviously it can be done. But i wouldn't want to do it, is just so much easier with a flat.

@The Boss Lady how long did it take for your application to be approved?
@DezTrucking we were considering Crete as I live in Lincoln...but after doing more research we decided upon Mercer.

Crete? Are you kidding me? Might add well say you was considering swift and cr England. You can't make money running on some 90 cpm plus fsc contact.

@Chickadee I was approved in about 3 days. I guess the have a van trailer available for me. I was surprised to read that some people have to wait so long.
