Van rates are not really good. I am on my second week, struggling to learn the lanes. My truck is paid for and I don't have many bills so I am able to sit.
Mercer van freight is about 50/50 customer/broker freight. So, usually half of the stuff you see on the board is not really available; its brokered freight that was entered by agents and never gets pulled from the board until someone calls on it. It requires me to rely a lot on my coordinator more than I would like, which is extremely frustrating, as I prefer to just point and click. I'm a bit antisocial. LOL
I was told before I started that van rates averaged about $1.30, and while I never planned on being average, with the amount of deadhead I am seeing, that rate might hold true. However, I'm still learning the system.....RStewart and The Boss Lady Thank this. -
