SAIA has previously announced their expansion in to the northeast and they've been advertising for drivers on the radio in my area. 64 cpm is a nice wage - I'm not looking for a job currently, but it sounds like a good opportunity. I found this ad for the Pittsburgh area -

I'm betting there are similar ones throughout the northeast. Figured I'd post this for anyone looking for a good LTL job.

Interesting....the coon arses moving north like that. I had occasion to run with 5 from the line group . A steady run up to the rock every night. They were all happy as clams. Steady runs, good wages and good enough equipment. ( Volvos )

I know they are quick to fire guys, especially the ones that have been there awhile.

Ask about the new driver facing cameras that they are installing as well.
They are said to be slowly putting them into all of the trucks, along with a bunch of ridiculous rules.
I know one of their drivers, and he told me that when the camera goes into his truck, that will be his last day there.

    Pintlehook Thanks this.

I've heard that one a million times. That's an easy decision to make at a mega rookie carrier, but a lot more difficult when you have a high-paying gig. I'm curious what the percentage is of drivers who actually follow through with that.

If I'm ever in a similar situation I certainly won't like it, but I won't threaten to quit on day one. However, I'd probably think twice before eating food that requires a fork or spoon while going down the road.

According to him, the rules are far more restrictive than that.
For example, turning your head too far to the left or right.
I mean, really, you have guys with 15+ years of accident free driving, and you feel the need to micromanage them like a brand new swift driver?
    Piss on that!

Bob Dobalina and bzinger Thank this.

I hear ya. That's one reason I was never interested in UPS despite the huge money there. Micromanaging how you crank the landing gear and all that.

Sho Nuff and Pintlehook Thank this.

They've been advertising around here too for a new terminal in Newark so I filled out an app. $28.41/hr it said...I gotta admit that's not bad. Driver facing cameras though...oy

I always wondered why they didn't service the Northeast. I got ignored by them a long time ago in Portland, OR back when I only had 6 months of seat time. (that was probably why)
