Watkins-Shepard Acquired by Schneider

I won't ever drive for Schneider. So now if Schneider wants to run Watkins like them, then they can get a new driver.

 

I can't say anything bad about Watkins. I don't like all the Schneider stuff coming in but what can you do. I only planned to be here 1 year then leave. I liked it and couldn't find anything that made me wanna leave. So I planned to stay 2 years if possible. Then is stumbled on this job I was offered today. Usually the guy wants 2 years but offered me a job with only 16 months. Newer kw and petes. Still run furniture just no touch and only full loads. Out and right back, if you have a backhaul you know before you leave. If not deadhead home. Only 3 people work in his office and the owner is one of them. Ungoverned trucks and paper logs. Be something different for me but I think it's time to move on.

 

Never stop looking for the next best thing. Glad to hear you got something you may like.

 

If I don't, I would come back to Watkins or find another LTL furniture company to work for. I like the LTL stuff a lot. I may not like this 600 mile a day stuff idk. But I had to take a chance and see.

 

6 people fired (laid off) today including the entire recruiting team.

 

Very sad. I was actually thinking of retracting my 2 week notice on Wednesday and staying at Watkins. Seeing this makes me rethink that.
Who all was laid off? Recruiters and who else?

 

A woman. I'm afraid I don't remember her name.

 

What was her job title? Do you know?

 

I'm sorry. I have no idea. It wasn't someone I knew, so I didn't pay attention to remember.

 

I was also told that although they said Watkins will retain training, that the training team isn't convinced.
