I'm in Phx. and WM is all over the state, but pretty sure they are not hiring here. I checked them out when a buddy refereed them to me and the only opening they had was Flagstaff.

Yeah, like I said I saw Flagstaff when browsing through. Some big cities like Phoenix sometimes can have a completely different waste company than the rest of the entire state. In Texas, its rare to find 3 cities within a 100 mile radius that all use the same one.......I wish you luck anyhow......

I have heard nothing but good about Crete except their 62 mph. That kinda sucks. Other than that though, a great company....I was even considering them. Im just looking for something local/regional first. Ive drove both and kinda spoiled myself to being home every night making more money.

That 62 is gonna be true for most all. Regional out west, texas, I just don't know... there is such an over abundance of drivers most have done away with regional hires from out here. Gotta go east for those now. Local is eventually my goal, but to get there and make the good money, gotta go OTR for 1-2 years, typically 2 years at least... a Brother of mine just hired on to a local tanker job, working evenings here til about 1am, and will make about $65k a year. He drove OTR 4 years before this.

I think I will finish school here in oregon and get a local job here to gain experiance then make the move to az. I have done extensive research on available jobs here and there. I can get a local job here with no problem.
Thank you all for the good info. Its a matter of time then i will be able to enjoy the sun!

Just remember...local experience doesn't count as experience when applying for OTR. You will still be a newbie. Don't expect higher pay, or shorter training/no training. Also, you'll run into what I have... you'll need an address and AZ license before applying, unless you land an OTR job there, and then transfer here, assuming the company drives thru here.

Good luck and stay in touch... me... I can wait to leave here someday... this is gonna be one hurtin area economically for a long time... 2-3 years at least. There are very, very few jobs here, including driving, and there are alot of people looking for work.

Check out Knight local. I know several of them. You can work as little or as much as you want to. Knight has it's plus's and minus's but it baffles me how when presented with a logical idea from a driver regarding his daily routine, their like "Whateva" jus get r dun. Basically, be miserable and ticked off or do something about it. Like they say to me "Whateva"
