Hey fellow drivers, I'm finally getting back in a truck after a 2.5 year break. Before I've always ran cobra 29's, but I want to switch it up this time. I did have a nice Galaxy 959 that was tweaked and tuned until a CB shop fried it. 500 bucks down the drain. I want a CB you can't buy at a truck stop. I also want to get it peaked and tuned, but not sure how much wattage the factory harness can handle in these new trucks. Any help is appreciated.
Best cb/ setup

Uniden President Lincoln II is a good choice. Depending on the truck, you might need to run coax and use non factory antennas

Whatever radio you buy, don't get it hacked (peaked and tune) leave it alone and focus on the antenna assembly along with a good quality of coax .

Unfortunately the question that pops into my mind is "why?" We all know what a good tool a cb could be, but if nobody's squacking warnings, and nobody has one on so you can warn them, what's the point?

stepping up when you had a good radio, stick with the 29.

I'm old school. I like my CB, it's usually on when the truck is on (just squelched up enough to kill the statics) and I want to be heard when using it. If you got the pocket, I say you can't go too side ways with any decent Connex, Ranger, Stryker, Magnum or a Gaxlaxy and I'm not referring to the bottom of the lines with just the name plate. Go browse http://www.gijoesradioelectronics.com then compare them on Ebays and make your pick. Cobra 29 peaked is ok, gets out ok if you're on a budget (might get the most bang for your bucks but personally looks plain jane / gaudy) but in clarity and raw power? Yeah, right - keep telling yourself that your Yugo is just as fast as a Lambo.
Now, I don't use the CB all that much. I don't thrash talk in truck stops. I don't preach or hock stuffs on CB. When I used to pull oversize, pass friends on the road or some warnings on CB (deer/animals, people, accidents, constructions, back ups, pile ups, road closures, etc...) that I might be interested in, I want to hear it and be heard when someone's sharing some info. Want to play with big boy's toy, you need the big boy's pocket book to go rooster cruising.QuietStorm, TripleSix, philv and 1 other person Thank this. -
