Holland Pay

I've been at holland for about a month now and it kinda sucks. You will be gone from home 5 days a week and sleeping in ####ty hotel rooms I feel like we should be getting layover pay for being their slave. I take home 800-900 a week till you get a bump in pay after your first year. Totally OTR work but not operating in all 48 all tractors look like they should be scrapped

 

I ran Line Haul for 2.5 years. I would ever recommend Holland to anyone. As long as you get the miles, the pay and benefits are great. Other than that, they treat you like crap, never know when your getting home, Hotels can be a good thing if you like living out of a bag, the equipment sucks and most of them are slow, your time home is spent sleeping from running nights all week, and they will screw you out of pay/time if you don't watch them.

Been out of there for 2.5 months. Lost 10 pounds, home for a real weekend (not sleeping it away), and wife and I are not at each other throats since I'm not always tired. I could go on, I think you get my point!

PS...have to wonder why it's so easy to get a job at Holland now when there use to be a waiting list.

 

Its a easy job other than what you mentioned and most people are walking heart attacks from the food they eat on the road. Its definately a life killer if you dont have a bid run

Start at 17.85 here in Akron .... Teamsters ..... weekly pay .... central states ..... all benefits covered by contract terms ....

 

Any updates out of The Wheeling Terminal. The Manager told me line Haul Starts at 19.01 Hourly for anything non Driving related and .45cpm while driving. Are they getting the Miles, etc? Thats what I am curuous about. They certainly are doing alot of Hiring lately.

 

Go to truckingboards.com a lot of LTL'ers go there more then here. Holland boys from what I've read are always slammed and drivers always leave cause of the better paying LTL companies.

 

I am about a month out of CDL school. I'm trying to make a choice between Schneider and Holland. Any advise on which one I should choose? I'm really looking for great training and good pay.
